OREANDA-NEWS  Georgia has finally blocked the supply of cars to Russia, including cars imported into the country from Armenia. The ban on the import of American cars to Russia through Georgia began to take effect on August 1, and on September 26, the embargo will affect European cars. Nevertheless, the journalists of the vPost publication report that already today, border guards do not let cars of any brands through the Upper Lars checkpoint.

According to the law adopted by the Georgian authorities, cars with an engine capacity exceeding 1.9 liters can no longer be imported into Russia. The ban also applies to hybrid cars and electric cars.

"Georgia started creating difficulties even before August 1, so the dates do not always correspond to the implementation of specific steps. All this has been going on for two or three months. American and European cars were divided by the amount. If up to $50 thousand, then they missed it. Since March, I no longer wanted to carry anything through Georgia. It was already impossible to deliver expensive cars. In addition, money does not normally arrive there, transfers are blocked. Most likely, the situation will worsen. Logistics has become very complicated. And, most likely, autumn will be rich with bad news regarding sanctioned goods," the founder of the Avtodegustator company, Ararat Mardoyan, told Kommersant.
