In 2019, scientists found that bears attacked people 664 times between 2000 and 2015. Cases most often occurred when the female protected the cubs, and tourists violated their territory. The greatest amount of aggression was in European and North American species. Only every seventh case ended in death, the remaining 86% of people received injuries of varying severity. The main reason for this situation is the growth of the bear population and the advance of civilization on their hunting grounds.
