OREANDA-NEWS. China will provide SCO member states with quotas for training in poverty alleviation skills, said Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping.

"In the next three years, China will provide SCO member states with one thousand quotas for training in poverty alleviation skills," Xi Jinping said in Dushanbe on Friday at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) marking the 20th anniversary of its creation.

This year, on February 25, Chinese President Xi Jinping prociaimed the absolute victory of China in the fight against complete poverty. He reminded, that in eight years, almost 100 million Chinese were taken out of the poverty border in the state, so China could reach the UN goal of eradicating poverty even 10 years ahead of schedule, proposed to do this by 2030 year. According to Xi Jinping, China took 98.99 million citizens out of poverty from 2012 to 2020. 832 counties and 128 thousand villages were removed from the list of poor areas. Since the start of the reform and opening-up policy in the late 1970s, 770 million rural inhabitants have been lifted out of poverty.

The SCO is an international organization established in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The SCO observer countries are Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia, the partner countries are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
