OREANDA-NEWS The amount of the increased additional rate of insurance premiums payable by banks to the Mandatory Deposit Insurance Fund will amount to 300 percent of the base rate from the third quarter of 2024, the board of directors of the Russian Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) has decided.

Thus, the zero rate applied in the Russian Federation will be abolished. The decision to reset the DIA indicator was made in February 2022 in order to improve banks' liquidity management capabilities. In the future, the validity period of this measure was extended several times. The last time this happened was last December.

The specified additional contribution must be paid by banks that overestimate rates by at least three percentage points compared to the average market level, as well as credit institutions with an unstable financial situation. The amount of the most basic contribution rate from the third quarter of 2021 is 0.12 percent

Earlier, the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina, said that for Russian banks leading a more risky policy, an increased rate of deductions to the Deposit Insurance Fund will be provided. According to her, after the introduction of such differentiation, the supervisory rating of the regulator will consist of a quantitative assessment that takes into account financial indicators and an assessment of the quality of the bank's management. The amount of insurance premiums of credit institutions will depend on the level of the indicator.
