OREANDA-NEWS The commander of the Lithuanian army, General Valdemaras Rupshis, warned that the republic is preparing measures to respond to the case of unpredictable actions of Russia and Belarus on the border. His words are transmitted by TASS.

The military admitted that today there is no direct military threat from Minsk and Moscow, but Vilnius and its allies are monitoring the situation. In addition, he announced the upcoming exercises of border guards according to new scenarios provided for in the new border protection plan.

"The Russian units located in Belarus (meaning the Wagner PMCs — approx. "Tapes.<url>") and the Belarusian regime itself are unpredictable, so we have outlined specific goals and objectives to respond to any development of the situation," Rupshis said.

Earlier, Lithuanian Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite discussed with the head of the State Border Guard Service not only the closure of borders with Belarus, but also checkpoints with the Kaliningrad region of Russia. In addition, the Interior Ministers of Poland and the Baltic states will hold a meeting on the topic of border closure on August 28 in Warsaw.
