During the discussion of the situation in the region, the interlocutors focused on the Syrian settlement. “It was agreed on further coordination of steps to ensure the long-term normalization of the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, the restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity”, the Kremlin notes. During the conversation, the leaders of the two countries also discussed cooperation "in order to stabilize the global hydrocarbon market".

The interlocutors positively evaluated the agreements between Russia and Iraq in the OPEC+ format, and also noted that it is important to continue joint efforts in this direction and expressed their mutual disposition to develop "traditionally friendly relations between the two states", the Kremlin said in a statement.
