OREANDA-NEWSRussian President Vladimir Putin will attend the BRICS summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), but will not go to the APEC summit in Chile in mid-November. "The president plans to take part in the BRICS summit, which will be held in Brasilia, he will go there on a three-day trip", Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. According to a Kremlin spokesman, "at the APEC summit in Chile, Russia will be represented at a different, but also high level".

The BRICS Leadership Summit will be held in Brazil on November 13-14. According to Peskov, the decision to cancel Putin’s visit to Chile to the APEC summit isn't connected with the unrest in Santiago and is due to a large number of internal events.

The APEC Summit will be held November 16-17. It is planned that among its participants will be US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Protests that escalated into riots and clashes with the police began in Santiago, the capital of Chile, on October 14 after authorities decided to increase the cost of the metro.
