OREANDA-NEWS  After major repairs in Mariupol, a 280-meter overpass was inaugurated in the DPR, acting as a link between the infrastructure of the city and its seaport, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

The opening of the bridge was attended by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, Acting Minister of Transport of the DPR Vladimir Tuzhilin, Chairman of the board of the state company Russian Highways Vyacheslav Petushenko, head of Mostovik LLC Denis Kravchuk, Deputy General Director for construction of Mostovik LLC Andrey Soldatov, as well as specialists of organizations involved in the repair of the facility.

"To be honest, this is, in fact, a new bridge, it is very important for us. Why? Because this is the main artery with the Mariupol commercial port, and now our trade turnover will only increase," the head of the republic said at the opening of the bridge.

Representatives of the construction company also noted the high traffic intensity on this overpass.

The bridge was damaged during the fighting to liberate the city in 2022. Its restoration began in June 2023. The work was completed in eight months, which is several months ahead of schedule. 40 people and ten pieces of equipment were engaged in repairing the bridge.

During the restoration work, the supporting parts of the bridge superstructures were installed, the damaged beams of the superstructure were replaced, the roadway was concreted, waterproofing, lower and upper layers of asphalt concrete pavement were laid, and markings were applied. The builders installed the barrier and railings of the bridge, provided anti-corrosion protection, and carried out landscaping of the adjacent territory.

The restoration of the overpass on Mezhdunarodnaya Street will ensure unhindered logistics by road in the direction of the infrastructure of the seaport of Mariupol. This will allow the port's capacities to be included in the general chain of trade turnover in the waters of the Sea of Azov.
