OREANDA-NEWS The European Commission (EC) has no news regarding the results of the discussion within the G7 on the issue of sanctions on the import of Russian diamonds, EC spokesman Daniel Sheridan Ferry said.

"All I can say is that discussions with our G7 partners are continuing. We will be watching to know how they will end. There is nothing special that could be reported to you on this topic," the press secretary said at a briefing in Brussels on Monday.

At the G7 summit in Japan in May, the G7 leaders said that "in order to reduce the revenues that Russia receives from diamond exports, we will continue to work closely together to limit the trade and use of diamonds mined, processed or produced in Russia."

The summit document did not specify what measures could be considered in this case. Since then, the G7 and EU member states have been holding discussions on this topic.

Earlier, Western media reported that a corresponding statement on the measures agreed by the G7 and the European Union on diamonds of the Russian Federation could be made by the end of October.
