OREANDA-NEWS  Sergey Ivanov, ALROSA President:

“So far, we have not been able to get to the people underground using the planned routes. The search teams have received a new rescue task, some of the workers from Mir underground mine are involved in the rescue operation, we are using additional equipment. We are planning to remove the pulp (wet rock fines at the bottom of the Mir open-pit mine) to get through to the place where we suppose the miners can be.

All the necessary services of the underground mine are involved to ensure the rescue operation.

ALROSA’s social subdivisions, HR services and psychologists are working with relatives of the miners who are still underground. All the necessary support is provided.”
