OREANDA-NEWS. Hungary became the first European country to receive the entire volume of Sputnik V vaccines under a contract with Russia. This was reported by the Russian embassy in Budapest.

The embassy's message on Facebook says: "On May 11, 2021, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary Yevgeny Stanislavov and Hungarian Foreign Ministry Secretary Varga met the last batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine delivered under the contract between the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Hungary dated January 22 . The embassy recalled that Hungary became the first EU country to approve the use of Sputnik V.

"Today we can say that Hungary has also become the first European state to receive the entire contracted volume. We are pleased that the advanced developments of Russian scientists are contributing to Hungary's efforts to vaccinate the population, helping to protect citizens from dangerous coronavirus infection and save lives," the diplomatic mission reported.

Earlier on May 11, it was reported that vaccination against coronavirus with the Russian drug "Sputnik V" in another European country - Slovakia - could begin in the coming days, as stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Igor Matovic.
