OREANDA-NEWS. Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey, within the framework of agreements with Russia, will receive "an impressive amount" of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.

According to him, the Turkish Ministry of Health is negotiating the purchase of the vaccine with the Russian side.

"I will discuss this issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin. I hope that we will receive impressive amounts of Sputnik V from Russia," Erdogan said.

According to TASS, he stressed that there are no problems in Turkey now with providing the population with vaccines against covid. According to him, in addition to deliveries from Russia, there are also agreements with Germany. A Turkish vaccine is also being developed.

Earlier, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Health, Fahrettin Koca, said that the first delivery of Sputnik V is expected in May. The authorities are finalizing the emergency use authorization process for this drug.

On April 29, it was reported that Turkey purchased the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and is aiming at cooperation in the production of the drug. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

"The Turkish Minister of Health told me that they agreed with their Russian colleagues on the purchase of Sputnik V vaccines for joint production," Cavusoglu said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
