OREANDA-NEWS  Millions of Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr today. One of the main holidays in Islam, the strict fast and the holy month of Ramadan ended. 400 thousand believers came to solemn prayers in Moscow alone. Most of the people were at the Cathedral Mosque. They filled all the nearby streets. After prayer, Muslims traditionally set the tables and greet the guests. The holiday will last three days. In some of our regions, they are all weekends. The contribution of Muslim organizations to the maintenance of interethnic dialogue was noted by Vladimir Putin. The text of the congratulatory telegram is published on the Kremlin's website.

Vladimir Putin: "I congratulate you on the Eid al-Fitr holiday. This holiday, especially revered by Muslims all over the world, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, carries a high spiritual meaning, embodies the desire of people for moral self-improvement, mercy and compassion. I am pleased to note that the followers of Islam in our country have deep respect for centuries-old paternal historical, religious, and cultural traditions, and involve young people in them. Today, during a special military operation, Muslim fighters, together with their comrades-in-arms, defend Russia, show courage and mutual assistance in battles. And, of course, the contribution of Muslim organizations to the maintenance of interethnic and interreligious dialogue, to the patriotic education of the younger generation is valuable."
