OREANDA-NEWS  If Moldova reacts to the declaration of independence of the Gagauz autonomy by sending troops, the authorities of the region will seek help from everyone, including Russia, the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, she noted that the Gagauz autonomy will launch the process of separation from Moldova if the authorities in Chisinau decide to unite with Romania.

"I hope it doesn't come to that. I hope for the common sense of our authorities. But if it comes to that, we will apply to all countries, of course, including the Russian Federation," Gutsul said, answering the relevant question.

At the same time, she stressed that the Gagauz autonomy wants to remain part of Moldova, but will "take measures" if the country's authorities decide to unite with Romania.

"Because we want to be, to live in the independent Republic of Moldova," the head of the autonomy explained.
On April 4, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolaku expressed support for the idea of unification with Moldova, which may occur, including with the republic's accession to the EU.

Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi also reported that many representatives of the Romanian authorities, as well as members of Moldovan political parties, are promoting the idea of uniting the two states.
