OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank CIB will be a general partner of the 14th Russian Bonds Conference, which will be held on December 8-9 in Saint Petersburg.

The Russians Bonds Conference is the country’s largest conference for capital market professionals. It has been held annually since 2003 and traditionally brings together more than 600 participants who represent the banking and corporate sector, government regulatory bodies and ministries, Russia’s regions, and investment, consulting, and legal firms.

This year, at panel sessions and round tables participants of the congress will discuss legal and infrastructural changes on the bonds market, the prospects of investment banking within the banking industry, the reasons for and consequences of the falling volume of sub-federal placements, the situation surrounding investor demand on the Russian bond and Eurobond market, as well as other issues.

Sberbank CIB experts regularly play an active role in the event. Head of Sberbank Investment Research1, Managing Director Alexander Kudrin will moderate the fixed income analysts’ discussion on the second day of the congress. Viktoriya Yakimova, Director in the Capital Markets Division of Sberbank CIB’s Global Markets Department, will participate in the session titled “Sub-federal and Government Debt Market”.

Anton Malkov, Head of Capital Markets, Managing Director, Global Markets Department, Sberbank CIB, commented: “We are delighted to be a general partner of this key industry event and are sure that the Russian Bonds Congress will be conductive to discussion of the big issues facing the debt market and setting the stage for work in the upcoming year. High-quality borrowers have had extensive opportunities to raise financing in 2016, and we have an optimistic view of next year.”

Alexander Kudrin commented: “The Russian market can expect a good year in every respect. The Ministry of Finance’s extremely ambitious plans for rouble borrowing, the expected reduction of the Central Bank’s key rate and a Federal Reserve rate increase, the start of Brexit and many other factors will mean that it will be an eventful time for investors. Nevertheless, the domestic fixed income market continues to offer great money-making opportunities and I hope that the participants of the congress will be able to take advantage of them.”

Since 2011 Sberbank CIB has participated in more than 300 bond issuances and helped clients raise more than 2.5 trillion roubles on the domestic fixed income market. It is one of the leading organisers of market placements of bonds, with a market share of 14.73% for 9 months of 2016.

Sberbank CIB won the nomination “Most Innovative Investment Bank in CEE region 2016” at The Banker magazine’s 2016 Investment Banking Awards.

The company won three accolades at Сbonds Аwards 2015: “Best initial corporate bond placement deal” (for organising Polyus Gold’s series BO-01 bond placement), “Innovation of the year” for organising the issue of federal bonds (OFZs) with their nominal value indexed to inflation, and “Best investment bank (company) for work with first tier borrowers”.
