OREANDA-NEWS The G7 countries will continue to block Russian assets until the conflict in Ukraine is resolved. This is stated in the joint statement of the foreign ministers of the states after the meeting in Japan. In addition, the G7 countries plan to tighten sanctions against Moscow.

"Russia's sovereign assets in our jurisdictions will remain immobilized until the conflict related to Russia's violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is resolved," the statement says.

The G7 countries agreed to monitor compliance with anti-Russian sanctions and not allow third "countries" to undermine existing restrictions. In addition, the "Big Seven" called on other states to "stop helping Russia" in the conflict.

On April 17, during a session on the situation around Ukraine, the G7 foreign ministers decided to maintain sanctions against Russia, strengthen control over their compliance, and also agreed to continue to provide assistance to Kiev.

Earlier it became known that the countries of the "Big Seven" are considering the possibility of imposing sanctions on diamonds weighing one carat or more, which are mined by the Russian diamond mining company Alrosa.
