OREANDA-NEWS The cash collection centers of Sberbank in Moscow and the Moscow region received banknotes in denominations of five and ten rubles, the press service of the credit institution told RIA Novosti.

"In the near future, we expect additional batches, after which new banknotes will be sent to work in the bank's branches and to customers receiving exchange delivery services," Sberbank said.

In March, the Central Bank resumed printing ten-ruble and five-ruble bills, they were delivered to some regions last year. This summer, a modernized banknote with a face value of one hundred rubles will also appear in circulation. The updated one thousand and five thousand rubles will be put into circulation within a year, 500 rubles — in 2024, and 50 rubles — in 2025.

As the deputy chairman of the Central Bank Sergey Belov noted, initially the decision to replace the ten-ruble and five-ruble banknotes came because of their rapid wear and tear. Nevertheless, the minting of metal rubles turned out to be costly, he admitted.
