OREANDA-NEWS Russian banks need to be assigned specific industries for which they will have to provide financing. The proposal to divide the economy in this way during the plenary session of the Finopolis forum was made by VTB President and Chairman of the Management Board Andrey Kostin, writes Forbes.

He cited Belarus as an example, where if you have a bank, then a collective farm is bound to you. "And here the most important direction to choose, and let them pull," Kostin suggested.

The disadvantage of the current practice, he called a large number of national projects and priorities, because of which everything is blurred. And it would be better to take separate priorities from the state so that it focuses on regulating indirect and direct support measures. As an example, he cited a hypothetical order for low-orbit satellites for ten years.

According to the head of VTB, giving money for projects "just like that" is not the best way, but placing government orders looks like a much more promising task. Kostin recalled that shipbuilding is actually assigned to his bank, because the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) now belongs to the bank.
