OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of 2023, the total money transfers of Russians to four neighboring countries — Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan — decreased by 12 percent. 

In 12 months, Russians transferred a total of $7.7 billion to the above-mentioned countries. 

Armenia has become the leader among the four neighboring countries in terms of money transfers. Russians sent 3.6 billion dollars to this country (plus 15 percent to the level of 2022, excluding data for December). Kyrgyzstan came in second place (2.3 billion excluding data for December), and Georgia closed the top 3 (1.5 billion). In 2023, $0.23 billion was sent from Russia to Kazakhstan.

A sharp decrease in Russian money transfers to Georgia by the end of 2023 was indicated back in mid-January. At that time,was reported that in 12 months the indicator had decreased by 26 percent to the level of 2022. At the same time, Russia remained the leader in terms of money transfers to Georgia and by a wide margin outpaced its closest pursuers, including Italy and the United States.
