OREANDA-NEWS Russia will create a state platform for the confiscation of cryptocurrencies, which is already being seized in criminal cases, but this is done mainly on physical media, Izvestia writes. According to journalists, the Ministry of Finance was instructed to work out the relevant issue by October 1 this year.

The instruction was given following a meeting of the government commission for the prevention of offenses chaired by Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, which discussed improving the effectiveness of combating the use of information and telecommunications systems for illegal purposes.

As Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial market of the State Duma, explained, since the security forces can confiscate cryptocurrency, it needs to be stored somewhere and, "since it cannot simply be placed in a warehouse, the question is absolutely correct." The deputy also expects that in the near future the very concept of cryptocurrency will be introduced into Russian legislation.

"Now the whole question is about the position of the Central Bank. However, I want to note that it is gradually softening, the regulator ceases to deny the obvious. Therefore, I have hope that we will introduce this financial instrument into the legislative field by the end of the year," commented another parliamentarian Anton Gorelkin.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation stated that they expect the adoption during the current parliamentary session (until August 2024) of a bill allowing the use of cryptocurrency produced in the country for foreign trade settlements. It was emphasized that we are talking about the possibility of paying with the money mined in Russia, and the operations themselves will be carried out in foreign jurisdictions.
