OREANDA-NEWS Associate Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance of the Plekhanov REA Maria Dolgova told the cost of which goods will be affected by the weakening of the ruble against major foreign currencies. She said this in an interview with the agency "Prime".

Dolgova stressed that the most noticeable changes in the exchange rate will affect imported goods with a short shelf life. Their cost includes the costs of transportation, transshipment, insurance, storage in warehouses and payment of duties.

"In addition, some types of equipment are imported disassembled, which is also added to the final cost," she said. The economist warned the Russians that the rise in price of some goods may occur as early as April. The exception will be stocks that have not been sold from warehouses in Russia. According to the expert, other circumstances, including solvent demand, also affect the prices of goods.

"Electronics and household appliances may remain at the same level or even become cheaper, since the warehouses have accumulated surplus goods imported at the beginning of last year and unsold due to a decrease in consumer demand," she stressed.

The specialist added that the cost of products is affected by seasonality. Thus, the appearance of fresh domestic vegetables and fruits will reduce the price of imported goods.

Earlier, Russians predicted income growth by the end of 2023. This forecast was made by the rating agency "Expert RA".
