OREANDA-NEWS  Inflation in Russia on May 6 was 7.81% year-on-year, compared to 7.55% on May 2nd, according to the review of the Ministry of Economic Development titled "On the Current Price Situation".

"During the period from 3rd to 6th May 2023, inflation in the consumer market was 0.09% year-over-year at 7.81%", the Ministry said in its review.

According to the document's authors, for the period between 3 and 6 May in the food category, price growth slowed down to 0.02%.

Deflation continued for fruit and vegetables, due to lower prices for cucumbers and tomatoes. Egg prices continued to decrease, flour prices continued to decline, and pasta and cereal prices decreased. Mutton, pork, beef, bakery products, dairy products, and fat and oil products saw slower price increases, the authors noted.In the non-food sector, price growth also slowed during the reporting period, with an average increase of 0.02%. In the services sector, however, inflation was 0.51%, due to rising prices for domestic flights.
