OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian national team has consolidated its leadership in the World Figure Skating Team Championship after a short program of sports pairs.
World champions Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov became the first with a score of 73.77 points. The second place was taken by the Italians Nicole Della Monica and Matteo Guarise (66.09), the third were the Japanese Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara (65.82).
Figure skater Anastasia Mishina, paired with Alexander Gallyamov, said that she was positively influenced by training with Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky. Before the start of the current season, the duet went to coach Tamara Moskvina and is engaged in a group together with Boykova and Kozlovsky, who hold the world record for points in the short program of pairs.
Mishina told reporters: “It's always great to train with strong athletes, it moves both couples forward. Over the year, we have had quite a lot of events: we changed the coach, the coronavirus happened. Probably, this slowed down the movement forward a little, but we still progressed and are satisfied with our result. "
Now the Russian national team has 61 points - the gap from the second-ranked Americans has increased to five points. The Japanese team is on the third line with 52 points.
Next on the ice will be dance duets, which will present a free dance.
On the eve of the Russians Anna Shcherbakova and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva became the best in the short program among women, and the pair Victoria Sinitsina / Nikita Katsalapov - in rhythm dance.
