OREANDA-NEWS  Miroslav Romashchenko has decided to leave the post of head coach of Akhmat, according to the website of the Grozny football club.

He announced his decision after the defeat (0:1) of Akhmat from Orenburg in the Russian Cup match on Thursday, which led to the departure of Grozny from the tournament. The leadership of Akhmat accepted the resignation.

"I think this decision will be the right one, given that there are nine matches left until the end of the season. We hope that this will give the team a boost, some new emotions. I also hope that this step will benefit the team, and due to new emotions we will be able to solve the problem in this difficult season," Romashchenko said.

The 50-year-old specialist became the head of Akhmat in August 2023. Prior to that, he had already worked at the Grozny club, from October 2011 to May 2013 he was an assistant to the head coach Stanislav Cherchesov. Together with him, he also worked in the coaching staffs of Zhemchuzhina Sochi, Amkar, Dynamo Moscow, Legia Poland and Ferencvaros Hungary.

In the Russian championship, Akhmat is now in 12th place, having scored 20 points in 21 matches.
