An onshore grain hub will be created in Tatarstan

OREANDA-NEWS The agreement on the establishment of an onshore grain hub in Tatarstan was signed on Wednesday by Prime Minister of the Republic Alexey Pesoshin and CEO of the New Onshore Grain Corridor Group of companies Yuri Manevich on the sidelines of the XV International Economic forum KazanForum, the press service of the Government of the republic reports.
"The agreement provides for the creation in Tatarstan of a specialized high-tech facility for high-speed transshipment of grain cargoes with a capacity of 8 million tons per year," the message says.
The onshore grain hub will be located near the Deng Xiaoping International Logistics Complex as part of the development of the Grain+ logistics model and the replication of the technology of overland railway transshipment of bulk cargo.
It is noted that specialized grain containers with cargoes will be sent from the new grain hub in the export direction, and consumer goods and components for Tatarstan enterprises will be delivered back in the same containers.
The cargo base of the hub being created is grain produced in Tatarstan and the regions of the Volga Federal District. The target supply markets are China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and other countries. Return cargoes in the amount of up to 200 thousand TEU (twenty-foot equivalent, a conventional unit of measurement for the capacity of cargo vehicles) per year will be delivered to regional transport and logistics centers, with which the grain hub will work in technological conjunction.
The International Economic Forum of Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum" is taking place in Kazan on May 14-19. The Forum is a platform for strengthening trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural ties between Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, KazanForum has received federal status since 2023. The Organizing Committee is headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin.
