OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom is considering the possibility of building a gas liquefaction plant (LNG) in the city of Sosnogorsk in the Komi Republic, the head of the republic Vladimir Uiba said.

"Gazprom Group of Companies - Gazprom LNG Technologies - have shown great interest in establishing a natural gas liquefaction plant in Sosnogorsk. The capacity is not very large, but it is sufficient for us – more than 6 tons per hour," he said during a direct line with residents of Komi.

According to the head of the republic, investments in this project may amount to 5-5.5 billion rubles.

Uiba also added that currently a number of investors, including, in particular, Fesco and the Jadran group of companies from Tatarstan, are interested in the implementation of several projects in various sectors of the republic's economy: from the construction of a cargo terminal in the city of Mikun to the organization of the production of cationic starch for the needs of the pulp and paper industry and the bottling of mineral water.

According to the head of the Komi Republic, these plans will successfully complete the implementation of the economic diversification program for 2021-2026, which involves attracting 150 billion rubles of extra-budgetary investments and creating about 6 thousand new jobs.
