OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Indian President Draupadi Murom and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day. The message was published on the Kremlin's website.

The congratulatory message says that "India enjoys a well-deserved reputation on the world stage, plays an important constructive role in international affairs." Putin also called cooperation with India a "strategic partnership."

The Russian leader expressed confidence that "through joint efforts we will continue to build up fruitful bilateral cooperation in all areas, as well as constructive partnership in addressing topical issues on the regional and global agenda."

Earlier, the Financial Times reported how Russia sells oil to various countries, including India, bypassing sanctions. Although its price is below the established ceiling, but due to the extra charge for delivery, the cost exceeds the limit.
