OREANDA-NEWS. August 09, 2016. CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today that its subsidiary, CEMEX Latam Holdings, S.A. ("CLH") (BVC: CLH), is participating in the construction of the Atrio project, a 250,000-square-meter multipurpose complex located in Bogota, that will house the tallest building in Colombia.

CLH supplied the necessary concrete, team, and equipment for the casting of the first tower’s foundation plate. This process, performed 22 meters below street level, consisted of the construction of a single 2,400-square-meter and 3-meter tall slab. CLH contributed to this process by delivering over 7,380 cubic meters of ready-mix concrete, pumped uninterruptedly for 38 hours.

This is the first time that a project of this magnitude was performed for a building in Colombia. It involved the participation of over 300 people, around 1,000 ready-mix concrete truck trips in less than 48 hours, and the simultaneous and continuous operation of 6 CLH ready-mix concrete plants.

“We are proud to participate in a project that will reshape Bogota’s landscape and that delivers new construction methods to Colombia,” said Carlos Jacks, CEO of CLH. “This type of project demonstrates the company’s human, logistical, and technical capabilities. It also enables us to contribute to the evolution of the construction industry in this country.”
