OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2016. CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today that its subsidiary, CEMEX Latam Holdings, S.A. ("CLH") (BVC: CLH), participated in the expansion and improvement of a section of the Inter-American Highway, the main road in the Costa Rican highway system.

CLH supplied approximately 200,000 tons of high-strength cement for this highway’s expansion, a project designed to foster Costa Rica’s competitiveness in product transportation and to promote tourism through the extension of the road to four 50-kilometer lanes.

These new lanes were paved with 25-centimeter thick hydraulic concrete. This solution is superior to traditional asphalt paving, thanks to concrete’s greater durability, higher tolerance, better visibility during the day and especially at night, higher road safety, increased resistance to severe weather, and lower periodic maintenance.

“We are very proud to participate in this project, which is expected to greatly benefit the economy and society of Costa Rica,” said Alejandro Ramirez, Director of CLH in Costa Rica. “With this project, CEMEX reaffirms its commitment to contribute to the development of the country.”
