OREANDA-NEWS. September 06, 2016. Over the six months of 2016, META Group sold 667 thousand tons of ferrous scrap, which is 7% more versus the same period last year (624 thousand tons). Self-collected scrap amounted to 342 thousand tons, with 325 thousand tons of direct delivery scrap.  The growing sales are associated both with the scrap market growth (+3% versus 6 months 2015) and increased demand for scrap (+5%) shown by the Pervouralsk Pipe plant.

“Early in 2016, the consumption of scrap in the RF declined versus the previous year. The cost of scrap at the key export vectors dropped below the 2008 minimum: Russian 3A grade scrap was quoted at 176 \\$/tn (cfr) when supplied to Turkey. In March-May, domestic and foreign markets were actively growing both in size and prices, which resulted in a somewhat downward adjustment in May”, says Andrey Pavlov, General Director, META Group.

In the first half-year, META effected several projects aimed at development of the Company’s customer service: a unified call center for all regions has been in place since April, offering toll-free calls to number 8-800; the construction of customer yards is about to be completed at the scrap collection sites in Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg.

META Group was founded in 2004, and today is among the TOP-3 domestic companies engaged in scrap recycling business. According to 1H 2016 results, it has a 7% share in the RF market. The main vectors of META’s activity are collection, processing and sales of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap on domestic and foreign markets. META has over 60 collection sites in 11 Russian regions. The strategic objective in establishing the Company has been accommodation of the needs of ChelPipe Group’s pipe division with quality iron & steel feedstock.
