The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy will host a workshop to discuss the benefits and implications of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), also known as drones. The workshop will bring together experts across government, academia and industry to explore issues related to airspace integration, public and commercial uses for unmanned aircraft, and ways to ensure safety, security and privacy in this emerging field.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich – who was recently appointed by the Federal Aviation Administration to chair the Drone Advisory Council, an advisory committee aimed at addressing “integration strategies” regarding UASs – will be a keynote speaker at the event, which takes place from 9 – 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
