OREANDA-NEWS. Scania India has launched a new mining tipper truck. With its combination of a «U» body design and superior wear resistant steel, the payload carrying capacity has been boosted by up to five percent. Meanwhile, with the low self-weight of the tipper body, fuel consumption is reduced by nearly five percent. The stability of the vehicle has also been improved by lowering the overall centre of gravity.

The Scania P 440 8×4 with the U-body tipper has been specially designed for mining soil removal applications. The Indian mining sector needs tough vehicles that can operate under the most demanding of situations. With this in mind, the new truck was intensely tested in more than 12,000 hours of operations at Indian mines before launch.

He adds that with the U-body tipper truck, by virtue of its higher payload, the company saves one truck in a fleet of 15. «The depreciation cost per truck will be lower because of the fewer number of trucks used. Because of the higher payload, maintenance costs per cubic meter are also lower.
