OREANDA-NEWS. Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR) announced today that it is part of the 3Angle consortium, a special purpose company selected as the preferred bidder by the Dutch government for the A27/A1 public private partnership (PPP) project in the Netherlands.

The Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management of the Netherlands [Rijkswaterstaat] selected the 3Angle consortium, comprised of Fluor, Heijmans Capital and 3i Infrastructure, for the design, build, management, maintenance and financing of existing and new infrastructure of the A27 motorway between Utrecht and Hilversum and the A1 between Utrecht and Bunschoten-Spakenburg. The project has a total value of approximately €220 million and includes a 25-year management and maintenance period.

“Fluor has 15 years of experience working on significant PPP infrastructure projects in the Netherlands and we look forward to using this expertise to successfully deliver this important upgrade project,” said Hans Dekker, president of Fluor’s Infrastructure business.

The A27 project will improve safety and traffic flow by widening the motorway from two to three lanes and widening the A1 motorway from two to four lanes. The project will also reduce congestion and enhance the quality of life in surrounding communities. Construction is due to be completed in 2019.

Fluor, Heijmans Capital and 3i Infrastructure will be the sole shareholders in 3Angle, each with an equal 33.3 percent share. Fluor and Heijmans will also participate in the engineering, procurement, construction (EPCM) and operation phase with equal shares.

Financial close is targeted for October 2016.
