OREANDA-NEWS. The S.CS Fixed Roof XL curtainsider semi-trailer combines the health and safety trailer requirements for the United Kingdom with the safety regulations demanded by EN12642 Code XL. Here the focus is squarely on easy and efficient handling of the trailer during the loading process.

This is particularly evident in practical use. The Fixed Roof XL allows for a straight bulkhead with integrated corner stanchions, which in turn enables easy side loading without any lateral displacement of the pallets by the lifting fork of a forklift truck. After loading, there is no need for support laths to obtain the required structural rigidity. The side tarpaulins can be easily tensioned at the front and rear of the trailer.

All components and modules originate from the modular system available throughout Europe. The availability of replacement parts, the expertise of workshops and the operation of the trailers is thus guaranteed across different countries. Additionally, the S.CS Fixed Roof XL eases the daily workload of the driver and loading personnel while increasing the passive and active safety of the trailer thanks to stiffer roof construction to implement the central load securing fixed under the roof, which is commonly used in the UK. In addition, a permissible total weight of 44 tonnes and trailer heights of more than four meters are allowed in the UK.

The trailer further differs from the Universal semi-trailer in Germany in additional details. Due to the larger body height, a loading height of up to 3.1 m is available. This makes loading and unloading significantly easier, as the roof does not need to be raised. Optionally, the load can be additionally secured by load restraint straps in combination with restraint tracks fixed under the roof. These help to prevent the cargo from sliding and goods from falling off the trailer. At the same time this enhances work safety during preparation for loading and unloading.

The S.CS Fixed Roof XL is equipped with a wire mesh in the side tarpaulin as standard. This significantly increases protection against theft.

With an annual production of some 45,000 vehicles and around 4,900 employees, Schmitz Cargobull AG is Europe's leading manufacturer of semi-trailers and trailers for temperature-controlled freight, general cargo and bulk goods.
