OREANDA-NEWS. Schmitz Cargobull is introducing its own dolly to the market. The DO 18/L-2" model has a galvanised frame and rolls on 385/55 R 22.5 tyres, offering a coupling height of 1,050 – 1,100 mm for LHVs. Due to the rotatable coupling and the use of rigid axles, this represents a simple, low-cost solution for the LHV concept.

UNIVERSAL semi-trailers can be operated with the dolly. Standard components such as ROTOS axles and pneumatic suspension as well as a fifth-wheel coupling and wheels are used in the manufacturing – ensuring consistency with existing Schmitz Cargobull products.

In addition to the already permitted uses in Scandinavia and the Netherlands, and taking into account the expected approval of LHVs in Germany and Spain, this solution provides customers with what is expected to become a popular alternative for gross vehicle weights of 40 to 60 t.

With the launch of the dolly, Schmitz Cargobull has assumed the role of a supplier of complete road trains, consisting of a truck body mounted onto any brand of rigid truck, which can then be connected to a dolly plus a semi-trailer. An extensive range of body options can be offered from the Schmitz Cargobull product range, including folding wall, curtainsider or insulated box models as needed.

With an annual production of some 45,000 vehicles and around 4,900 employees, Schmitz Cargobull AG is Europe's leading manufacturer of semi-trailers and trailers for temperature-controlled freight, general cargo and bulk goods. The company achieved sales of approximately €1.6* billion in the 2014/2015 business year.
