OREANDA-NEWS. Group of companies "ACOM" on August 27th launched a new production line for the production of car batteries in Zhigulevsk. Moreover, with the launch of new equipment at the plant it was started serial production of the first import-substituting product - EFB Class batteries, advanced batteries with liquid electrolyte.

In fact, on the old area, the company launched a new plant, which by 2018, by reaching the design capacity, can produce up to 3.4 million batteries per year. It is estimated that it will permit "ACOM" to increase its share on the market of batteries from 18% to 26%, by surpassing foreign producers, whose share in the Russian market is about 30%.

"The new batteries will exceed the figures of import counterparts”, - the Deputy Head of External Communications of Industry Development Fund, Andrey Rhyme, informed TASS. - They will work up to three times longer than the conventional flooded batteries and fast charging. In addition, the batteries will provide up to 100 thousand cycles of engine start, whereas today this figure of industry leaders does not exceed 40 thousand cycles".

Another advantage of the products – is increased resistance to deep discharge. It will permit to enhance greatly the reliability of engine start in extreme operating conditions. At the same time the retail price of the new batteries "ACOM" will be 30 - 50% less than competitors' prices, as about 90% of raw materials that is used in the manufacture of batteries – is domestic (lead, alloys, sulfuric acid, etc., and plastic).

Cost of the project for the renovation and equipping of the line as a whole was 1.2 billion rubles. Among them, 700 million rubles were company's own funds and 500 million under 5% as a concessional loan at the end of 2015 was issued by the Industry Development Fund. It is worth noting that it was the first project in the Samara region that received federal support in the framework of import substitution plan.
