OREANDA-NEWS. Japanese carmaker concerns Nissan and Mitsubishi have agreed to keep the autonomy of the dealer network and brand themselves in Russia after the joining of Nissan in the capital of Mitsubishi. It was stated by the head of the Russian unit Mitsubishi "MMC Rus", Naoya Takaya.

As previously announced, Nissan is buying 34 percent share in Mitsubishi Motors for 237 billion yen (about 2.4 billion dollars). It will make Nissan the largest shareholder of Mitsubishi. The two automakers, which are the partners in the past five years, will expand the cooperation, in particular, to share technology and to use the same platform for cars.

From September 30th Naoya Nakamura will be appointed to the position of head of Mitsubishi in Russia, and he expressed the confidence that the alliance with Nissan will positively affect the company's operations in Russia. "I am confident that the merger will give good synergy of assets", - he added.

As previously reported "AUTOSTAT", for the first eight months of 2016 Russian dealers of Mitsubishi sold 11396 cars - less by 55% than the year before.
