On March 22, 2007 the Board of Directors of Uralmashzavod, part of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY) has named Nazim Efendiev General Director, succeeding Boris Vasiliev. Mr. Vasiliev had been General Director since Dec. 26, 2005. Mr. Efendiev’s appointment takes immediate effect, reported the press-centre of  Uralmashzavod. Uralmashzavod is part of OMZ’s machinery equipment manufacturing business segment. Nazim Tofikovich Efendiev was appointed Executive Director of METALLOINVEST Management Company LLC in July 2006. This followed a series of increasingly senior posts in the metals industry, starting in 1996 with Sibirksy Aluminyi (now RUSAL) where he was Deputy Commercial Director of the Sayansk Aluminium Plant. He was named Director of the Samara Metallurgical Plant the following year and then, in 2000, was named head of the rolling division for RUSAL. He moved to NOSTA and Ural Steel as sales department officer in 2001. In 2004 he was appointed General Director of Ural Steel.

Born in Baku in December 1963, Mr. Efendiev graduated from the Military Institute of Foreign Languages with a diploma as a military interpreter in 1985. From 1985 to 1992 he served in the regular army. In 1996 he graduated from the Russian Government Academy of National Economy after completing an MBA program. The same year he studied at the Kingston University Business School (Great Britain) on an international management studies program.
