OREANDA-NEWS. On March 28, 2007 the Ministry of Industry and Energy held an extraordinary meeting in Mitishchy and discussed the “Development Strategy for Russia’s Transport Machinery from 2007-2010 and up to 2015”, reported the press-centre of  Russian Railways. Vadim Morozov, First Vice-President at Russian Railways, said that the Company played an active role in the preliminary discussion of the Strategy and submitted around 20 proposals in 2006-2007, most of which were taken into account and incorporated into the final document. However, the management of Russian Railways believes that several of the Strategy’s parameters need to be corrected.

Morozov noted that according to the Company’s General Development Plan, Russian Railways will acquire technology with productivity and technical and economic parameters up to global standards. Developing rail technology will take up to 10 years, while its operating life will be up to 40 years. The “Development Strategy for Russia’s Transport Machinery from 2007-2010 and up to 2015” should therefore be based on the ability of Russian domestic manufacturers to meet the demands of rail transport for at least the next 25-30 in tough and competitive international market conditions. Russian Railways also submitted a proposal to approve the “Development Strategy for Russia’s Transport Machinery” taking into account the points made by the Company.
