OREANDA-NEWS. On March 29, 2007 at the Gazprom Headquarters, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Nikolai Volkov, Governor of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast have signed an Agreement of Cooperation, reported the press-centre of  Gazprom.

Pursuant to the Agreement, the main directions of cooperation will be as follows:
- executing the Program on setting up an integrated gas production, transmission and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asia Pacific countries;
- preparing and implementing hydrocarbon field prospecting and development projects;
- developing and executing LNG supply and gasification projects;
- developing and introducing gas & energy saving technologies;
- preparing and approving prospective fuel and energy balances taking account of efficient utilization of local resources;
- creating a comprehensive environmental monitoring system.

The Jewish Autonomous Oblast Administration will contribute to creating a favorable investment climate for companies involved in regional programs covering gas supply, gasification, energy conservation and environmental improvements.

At present natural gas is not supplied to the region. Liquefied gas penetration in the regional residential sector accounts for 21%. The region annually consumes some 8,000 t of LNG.
The Draft Program on setting up an integrated gas production, transmission and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asia Pacific countries has been developed by the Russian Federation Industry and Energy Ministry and Gazprom pursuant to a Directive of the Russian Federation Government.
