OREANDA-NEWS. Constituent meeting of the MGIMO development fund took place at the House of Receptions of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Fund was established under the auspices of the Russian Foreign Minister, Chairman of the MGIMO Board of Trustees Sergei Lavrov in accordance with the Federal law "On establishment and use of purpose-oriented capital of a non-commercial organization", which came into force in January 2007, reported the press-centre of  Interros Company. MGIMO Development Fund is a non-commercial organization and is being established with the aim of forming a purpose-oriented capital. Its revenues will be used for the development of educational programs and material and technical assets of the university. The constitutors are the association of MGIMO graduates, MGIMO rector Anatoly Torkunov and President of the Interros Company Vladimir Potanin.

According to Sergei Lavrov, "for the first time in our country such a fund will contribute to a comprehensive development of MGIMO, its main aim still being the training of specialists for Russian diplomatic service and other organizations and agencies involved in implementation of the county’s foreign policy".  Interros President Vladimir Potanin underscored that "it was MGIMO which became a pioneer in establishment of purpose-oriented funds. I am confident that this initiative will become an incentive for graduates of other higher educational institutions of our country".  "Establishment of the Fund opens principally new vistas and possibilities for attraction and utilization of extra-budgetary means, provides us with a perspective for financial stability and long-term planning of our activities. I believe that MGIMO graduates will support the creation of purpose-oriented capital and will provide their alma-mater with a basis for development and modernization for many decades to come", - emphasized MGIMO rector Anatoly Torkunov.
