OREANDA-NEWS. On April 10, 2007 Obozov visited the office of Electricite de France (EDF) and met with the company’s senior executive vice presidents Bernard Dupraz (Generation) and Bruno Lescoeur (International Industrial and Public Affairs), reported the press-centre of Rosenergoatom.
During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues, particularly, the cooperation of the French NPPs with other energy companies. The Russian side showed interest in France’s experience in operating NPPs under market conditions and in EDF’s technical policy.
The other topics were the problems of decommissioning and engineering.
The sides agreed to continue their cooperation. Dupraz and Lescoeur accepted the invitation of Obozov to visit Rosenergoatom in 2007.
The Russian delegates visited Flamanville NPP (Basse Normandie, Northern France), which is the twin of Volgodonsk NPP, and the site of a new European reactor. The French side told the Russian guests about EDF’s history, experience and development prospects.
Besides, the Russian delegation visited one of the 10 Russian parishes in France, the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov, and presented the church with icons of Seraphim and Sergius of Radonezh.
Electricite de France is one of the biggest power generating companies in Europe. It operates 19 NPPs with 58 reactors with a total capacity of 65mln KWh. EDF also has thermal and water power plants, transmission and distribution networks. Presently, the company employs 25,000 people.
