OREANDA-NEWS. On April 12, 2007 experts from Russian Railways took part in TGV speed trials in France. The TGV is operated by SNCF and on 3 April this year set a new world record of 574.7 kph for a train running on a railway line between Paris and Strasburg, reported the press-centre of  Russian Railways.

The TGV has been developed by ALSTOM and contains state-of-the-art technology and new design features in the high-speed field. It is equipped with a new synchronous traction engine on permanent magnets and a special laboratory capable of monitoring several thousand different performance parameters during the train’s motion.

Experts from Russian Railways thoroughly familiarised themselves with the technical features of the TGV and its onboard software and trial equipment. The participation of experts from Russian Railways should open up new areas for cooperation between the Company and leading European manufacturers.
