OREANDA-NEWS. The meeting was chaired by the deputy director general-technical director of Rosenergoatom Nikolay Sorokin, reported the press-centre of Rosenergoatom.
The sides discussed the ways of enhancing the plant’s efficiency, raising its factor capacity, prolonging the inter-repair cycles at its units, modernizing the equipment and improving the qualification of the personnel. Sorokin pointed out that, now that the Government has adopted a federal nuclear energy development program, the plant’s technical services are facing many serious and hard tasks. One of the primary tasks is to modernize the plant’s units and to prolong their lives. He noted that as much as 1,5trl RUR will be allocated for the program (1/3 from the national budget).

Sorokin noted that the plant’s current efficiency enhancement program comes directly from the initiative of the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko for increasing the output of the Russian NPPs. The President and the Government have approved the initiative. A total of 19bln RUR has been allocated for this purpose till 2015, including 7bln RUR this year. “So, we already have all necessary conditions for fulfilling our tasks. Already next year our NPPs are supposed to produce 161.4bln KWh and we can’t but do it,” Sorokin said.

The managers of the plant informed the Rosenergoatom directors that, presently, they are carrying out a project for prolonging the inter-repair cycles of its units to 18 months and for enhancing the capacity of the 2nd unit to 104%. During the last year’s maintenance the plant’s repair services showed high efficiency and readiness to comply with the new repair period requirements: 45 days for medium-term repair and 70 days of overhaul. These requirements are aimed at enhancing capacity factor and at transiting to safe and efficient maintenance.
