OREANDA-NEWS. The SOGAZ Insurance Group has been General Partner of the Social Forum Atomic Energy, Society, Safety organized by the International Green Cross Organization jointly with the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom), and Rosatom’s Public Board, reported the press-centre of SOGAZ. Among the main topics on the agenda were nuclear and radiation safety in Russia related to disposal of the Cold War legacy, and establishing a dialogue on possible ways of safe development of atomic power engineering.


In his report, “The Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage: Key Issues,” Deputy Head of Corporate Insurance Department of the SOGAZ Insurance Group Dmitry Malyshev told the participants in the Forum about the realization of the Vienna Convention requirements in Russia and about legislative activities of insurance companies and federal executive bodies in developing national regulations providing for financial liability of nuclear power operators in case of possible nuclear damage. Commenting on the results of the Forum, SOGAZ Insurance Group Chairman of the Board Vadim Yanov said: “By being General Partner of this event, the SOGAZ Insurance Group has made a contribution to the promotion and development of the dialogue on critical issues connected with nuclear and radiation safety in Russia. We are happy that we have been able to render valuable assistance in holding this important international event”.
