OREANDA-NEWS. On May 03, 2007 specialists of Rosenergoatom (Russia) and SKI/ICP (Sweden) met in Moscow to discuss the prospects of cooperation on NPP safety, reported the press-centre of Rosenergoatom. Rosenergoatom was represented by the head of the Scientific-Technical Support Department Sergey Nemytov, the head of the Directorate for Material Science Vladimir Lovchev, the head of the Division of Metal Testing and Control, Resource Management, Quality Control and Safe Decommissioning of the Scientific-Technical Support Department Anatoly Berezanin, representatives of the Department of International Activities. SKI/ICP was represented by nuclear inspector Viviana Sandberg and employees of Inspektra company Jan Gunnars and Adam Letzter. The sides discussed the problems of nuclear equipment erosion. The Swedish specialists presented the methodology of pipeline damage prevention.

For more detailed experience exchange the sides agreed to conduct a seminar in Obninsk in Nov 2007. They also considered the possibility of using ProSACC, Swedish software designed for calculating the remaining life of steam generator heat exchange tubes. Several Russian NPPs have already begun applying the program. The Russian specialists said that the software is very useful and should be further promoted in Russia. The sides agreed to hold special meetings to jointly design software for calculating the possibility of metal fracture at NPPs. The next meeting will take place in Stockholm in June 2007. The agreement on cooperation between SKI/ICP and Rosenergoatom and its branches Kola and Leningrad NPPs was signed on Dec 13 2002.
