On May 03, 2007 the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov received the top executives of the famous American company Chevron, reported the Presidential website http://www.turkmenistan.gov.tm. Among the guests coming to Ashgabat were the Chevron Corporation Vice-Chairman for Exploration and Production Project, the Chairman of the Chevron-Asia Guy Hollingstone, the Chairman of the Chevron Oil Gas Inc., the Director General for New Projects Iain McDonald, the Director of the Chevron Oil Gas Inc. for Business Development Jerry Kopel and the Counsellor of the Board of Directors of the Chevron Company Clive Rumens.


Greeting his guests, Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov suggested considering the ways of partnership and noted the interest of our country in attracting the best foreign technologies. The Chevron Corporation at present successfully working in 120 foreign countries is a recognised world’s leader in the oil and gas business specialising in such directions as oil extraction at the sea shelf, drilling ultradeep wells and transportation of energy carriers. Telling about the great potential and the working experience, which can be rather useful for the dynamically developing Turkmen state, the guests expressed their great interest in establishment of close co-operation with it. In his turn, Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov suggested that the foreign partners should participate in projects for geological exploration, oil processing and development of the rich hydrocarbon fields at the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea. A possibility of training Turkmen specialists on the base of the Chevron in Texas was also discussed. The interlocutors expressed their satisfaction with the understanding achieved and their readiness for establishment of business co-operation.
