OREANDA-NEWS. On May 07, 2007 the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, and Lubomir Vazny, Minister of Transport, Post and Telecommunications of Slovakia during the official visit of the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Russia, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways. The Memorandum confirms the intention of the two sides to increase cooperation in the rail sector and in mixed transportation, to increase freight and passenger traffic and also to undertake measures to increase the competitiveness of rail transport in Russia and Slovakia. The two sides also agreed to study ways to improve the integration of the rail systems of Russia and Slovakia, build logistics centres in Europe and also extend broad gauge 1520 mm track from Koљice to Bratislava in Slovakia.
