OREANDA-NEWS. During a May 7 working conference the director of Smolensk NPP A. Petrov informed the plant’s managers about the Presidential Decree №556 (Apr 27 2007) on the restructuring of the nuclear power industry. In order to reform the nuclear power complex of the Russian Federation, to preserve and develop its scientific-industrial potential and to strengthen competitive positions on the world market, the Government of the Russian Federation has decided to establish a 100-state-owned OJSC “Atomenergoprom.”

The priorities of the company are designing, building, operating, maintaining, modernizing and decommissioning nuclear reactors, carrying out scientific research and introducing new technologies, building and maintaining NPPs in Russia and abroad, producing electricity, prospecting mineral resources containing nuclear materials, enriching uranium and other nuclear materials, designing, producing and selling fuel assemblies, exporting and importing products and services, training specialists.

According to the decree, Rosenergoatom should be corporized by Oct 1 2007. Smolensk NPP will also carry out corporization measures.

Semi-marathon in memory of Sergey Krylov conducted in Desnogorsk

On May 5-6 2007 Rosenergoatom conducted a semi-marathon in Desnogorsk in memory of the director of Smolensk NPP Sergey Krylov. Sportsmen from Smolensk, Balakovo, Beloyarsk, Leningrad NPPs, Roslav, Desnogorsk and “Polymer” company took part in the event.

On the first day women ran 10 km, men - 21 km. On the second, women ran 3 km, men - 5 km.

Andrey Sergeyev from Roslavl won in the junior group. Oleg Sannikov from Smolensk NPP won in the middle-age group. Vitaly Trutchenkov from Roslavl won in the senior group.
The winner in the female junior group was Maria Aksyonova, in the middle-age group - Yelena Boyarskaya and Gulnara Vozhakova from Balakovo NPP, in the senior group - Valentina Korobova from Smolensk NPP.
