OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2007.  101 sportsmen from 11 regions of the Russian Federation – among them 18 masters of sports — took part the tournament.

The initiators of the contest is Rosenergoatom, Volgodosnk NPP and the HTH Combat Federation of Russia.

The teams of Kursk, Leningrad and Volgodonsk NPPs, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, Chechen Republic and the Republic of North Ossetia and the winner of the all-Russian HTH combat tournament among defense and security agencies, the strongest team of Russia, “Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation” (Moscow), took part in the tournament.

Attending the opening ceremony were the director of Volgodonsk NPP Alexander Palamarchuk, the head of Volgodonsk administration Viktor Firsov, the deputy director of Volgodonsk NPP Gennady Fomenko, the president of the Volgodosnk office of the HTH Combat Federation of Russia, the head of the personnel department of Volgodonsk NPP Vladimir Tsapayev.

The director of Volgodonsk NPP welcomed the sportsmen and wished them success. The captain of the Volgograd team (the winner of the last year’s contest) Valentin Tarasov hoisted the flag of the Russian Federation. After the opening ceremony the chief referee, the vice president of the HTH Combat Federation of Russia Nikolay Sezenenko have start to the contest.

During the finals the house was full as fighting were real professionals.

Volgodonsk NPP won the first prize, Kursk NPP – the second, Leningrad NPP – the third.

The organizers of the tournament are planning to popularize hand-to-hand combat among the Russian NPPs and to increase the number of participants.

The overall team winner was the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. Volgodonsk NPP was the second, Volgograd region – the third. This year the team of Volgodonsk NPP performed really brilliantly: they outfought the last year’s winners, Volgograd region, and only the best team of Russia, FSS, was stronger than they. We are rally proud of our men! Their victory is a new page in the sports history of Rosenergoatom and Volgograd NPP.
